What is PEERS?
PEERS is an evidence-based social skills program designed to help motivated teens learn how to build and maintain meaningful relationships. The group teaches practical skills for starting conversations, joining group interactions, handling rejection, managing conflict, and developing stronger friendships.
Unlike groups that are only supportive or discussion-based, PEERS is structured and skills-focused. Participants learn concrete strategies they can use in everyday life.
Who this group is for
This group may be a good fit for individuals who:
- Want to make or keep friends
- Struggle with social anxiety or awkwardness
- Have difficulty joining conversations or group activities
- Miss social cues or feel unsure what to say
- Want more confidence in peer relationships
- Benefit from direct teaching and practice
A practical approach to social growth
PEERS is structured, direct, and focused on real-world social success. Participants learn specific social skills, practice them in session, and build confidence over time.
Our goal is to help participants feel more capable, less isolated, and better equipped to navigate friendships and social situations with greater confidence.
Insurance and Payment Options
Many families are able to use insurance for our PEERS group when it is part of an ongoing therapy plan.
When using insurance, PEERS is provided as group therapy through our practice. This typically includes a brief intake process, a diagnosis that supports treatment, and a recommendation for group therapy as part of care.
This option allows for a more comprehensive level of support and integration with ongoing therapy.
Private Pay Options
We also offer PEERS as a private pay program for families who prefer a faster start or are not using insurance.
Pricing options:
- $75 per session
- $850 for the full program (12 weeks)
Private pay participants can often begin more quickly and still receive the full benefits of the structured program.
Parent Involvement
This program includes parent participation, which is a key part of helping skills generalize into real-world settings. Parents receive guidance on how to support and reinforce progress between sessions.
