Teen ADHD Groups Oregon
OneYou Psychology’s Teen ADHD Group is an in-person, skills-based group for teens who know what to do but get stuck with starting, planning, time management, organization, and follow-through. Using a practical, supportive approach, teens learn simple executive function systems (not “try harder” advice), reduce overwhelm and shame, and build routines that actually fit real school and home life. Groups meet in Portland’s South Waterfront, with easy access from I-5 and plenty of parking, serving families from Portland, Lake Oswego, Beaverton, and Tigard.
What to Expect
Group sessions are led by our counselors to maintain productive and beneficial conversations. Discussions may include:
- Understanding ADHD and executive functioning
- Managing time, task initiation, and follow-through
- Navigating overwhelm, burnout, and emotional regulation
- Building systems that work with your brain
- Addressing shame, self-criticism, and late-diagnosis experiences
- Improving communication, boundaries, and daily functioning
Participation is encouraged, but entirely voluntary; we prioritize a safe and adaptable group experience for everyone.
Our Approach
Our Teen ADHD Group is trauma-informed, nonjudgmental, and client-centered, with a strong focus on executive functioning skills including planning, time management, task initiation, organization, and follow-through. ADHD shows up differently across individuals, identities, and life stages, so our support is inclusive and tailored to each teen’s needs. Guided by professional counselors, the group integrates psychoeducation, skills-based executive function training, and evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help teens build practical systems, reduce overwhelm, and move toward their long-term goals.
Getting Started
Entry into the group starts with a one-on-one assessment to discuss your expectations and address any questions you may have. To prioritize safety and genuine bonding, we may limit the number of participants in each session.
Insurance and Payment Options
Many families are able to use insurance for our PEERS group when it is part of an ongoing therapy plan.
When using insurance, PEERS is provided as group therapy through our practice. This typically includes a brief intake process, a diagnosis that supports treatment, and a recommendation for group therapy as part of care.
This option allows for a more comprehensive level of support and integration with ongoing therapy.
