Recovery is a personal journey, and that meaningful change comes from guidance, support, and understanding. Our counselors understand how complex addiction can be and work with you to build strategies to regain control and rebuild balance in your life.

TRAITS + CHALLENGES

Addiction touches people from all walks of life, regardless of age, background, or circumstances. Patterns of use or behavior that feel comforting at first can gradually take hold, which is why addiction is more common than many realize. Even subtle changes in behavior or thought patterns can signal the need for guidance and care.

Signs can include strong cravings, repeated use despite negative consequences, difficulty controlling impulses, and noticeable changes in mood, sleep, or routines. Addiction often starts with seemingly harmless habits that are later reinforced by underlying life stressors. Recognizing when these behaviors are starting to dominate your life helps you take action, and OneYou can help build a foundation for long-term recovery.

ADDICTION + NEURODIVERSITY

For neurodivergent individuals, addiction can develop as a way to cope with chronic stress, sensory overwhelm, emotional intensity, or difficulties with impulse control. Substance use or compulsive behaviors may help regulate mood or provide predictability, especially for those who have spent years masking or feeling misunderstood. What looks like addiction on the surface is often closely tied to unmet support needs.

DIAGNOSING + TREATMENT

Evaluation starts with a conversation about how addictive behaviors are affecting your daily life, mood, and overall well-being. Our counselors will explore habits, triggers, history, and any physical or emotional impacts to get a complete picture of your experience. Instead of labeling behaviors, we identify where support can have the greatest effect. With this understanding, you can move forward with a clearer sense of direction and practical strategies for recovery.

OneYou applies several evidence-based approaches into treatment, often including Mindfulness Training, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS).

We also work in collaboration with programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), and Sex and Sexuality Addicts Anonymous (SSA), supporting clients in integrating these community-based resources into their recovery journey. Click here to visit our our resources page, where you can find additional resources and local support.
